Winery Cellar Leadership - 2026 - Level 1

Description
In partnership with the Washington Winegrowers Association, Yakima Valley College is serving industry needs with new training for individuals in cellar production who wish to gain skills in leadership, winery related math conversions, and computer skills. Related cellar activities from Crush to Barrel will focus on the what, when, why, where and how of best-cellar-production practices that apply to a wide spectrum of operations.
Level I—Crush to Barrel
During this course, the student will:
- Evaluate, and identify, good leadership skills
- Discuss and develop skills in successful communication
- Develop skills in time management
- Practice winery related math conversions
- Practice computer skills
- Evaluate employee harassment and positive team building
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Describe the winemaking process, activities and procedures from crush to barreling
- Demonstrate application of cellar production math conversions
- Demonstrate application of cellar production computer use Evaluate problem-solving strategies and apply leadership-based solutions.
Terms and Conditions:
Classes taught in English.
Regular attendance is required.
Pass/Fail Certificate of Completion.
Cancellation Policy: Attendee cancelation 7 days or more in advance of event, will be refunded less a $50 administration fee per attendee. Cancelations within 7 days of event will not be refunded. In the event minimum required attendance is not reached, organizers will cancel/postpone the event and refund/credit attendees.

There will be a certificate graduation ceremony on either 5/29 or 6/5 depending on the classes' preference.
