Industry Event - AWB Webinar on Immigrant Worker Protection Act

Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

Stay ahead of new rules: Washington’s new Immigrant Worker Protection Act requires employers to notify employees of federal inspections of employment eligibility records. AWB will host a free webinar with the Washington State Attorney General’s Office at noon Tuesday, Sept. 22 to help employers understand the new law and how to comply.

  • Delaney Hewitt and Maxwell Schaeffer, policy analysts with the Attorney General’s Office specializing in labor, employment and immigration issues, will provide an overview and answer questions.

Details: House Bill 2105, passed this year, requires employers to give notice to all employees within five business days when the federal government announces an audit of the employer’s I-9 records. Read more in AWB’s 2026 Legislative Review (page 7).

  • Similar to laws in California and Illinois, the law aims to protect immigrant workers. Washington’s version also includes a private right of action, creating potentially significant liability for employers.
